Volunteer Questions
01. What does a Rescuer do?
Rescuers are on the front lines, responding to calls about injured, displaced, or orphaned wildlife. They assess the situation, safely capture animals, and transport them to carers or veterinary clinics as needed.
02. What does a Carer do?
Carers provide hands-on care for rescued wildlife, nursing them back to health or helping them grow strong enough for release. This includes feeding, cleaning, monitoring their health, and creating environments that prepare them for the wild.
03. What does the Support Crew do?
Support Crew volunteers focus on behind-the-scenes work, such as helping with events, educational programs, admin tasks, fundraising, and community outreach. They are crucial to keeping the organisation running smoothly.
04. Can I volunteer without handling animals?
Absolutely! You can join our Support Crew to help with events, education, and administrative tasks.
05. What training will I receive as a volunteer?
All volunteers receive training tailored to their role, whether it’s learning rescue techniques, animal care, or skills for events and outreach.
06. Is there a minimum commitment to volunteer?
Commitment varies by role. Rescuers and carers may need to dedicate more time due to the nature of their work, while support roles can be more flexible.
Membership Questions
01. What is a Financial Member?
Financial Members support the organisation through annual fees, helping to fund wildlife care and operational costs. They can also vote at annual general meetings and have a say in the organisation’s direction.
02. What is a Release Site Member?
Release Site Members provide safe locations for rehabilitated wildlife to return to the wild. These sites are critical for ensuring animals can thrive in suitable habitats.
03. Can I be both a Financial Member and a volunteer?
Yes! Many of our volunteers are also Financial Members, contributing to the organisation in multiple ways.
Wildlife Rescue and Care Questions
01. What should I do if I find injured wildlife?
Contact our rescue team immediately. If it’s safe to do so, gently wrap the animal in a towel and place it in a ventilated box, keeping it warm and quiet until help arrives.
02. Can I care for wildlife at home?
Caring for wildlife requires specific permits and training. Untrained handling can harm the animal and is illegal in many areas. Our carers are highly trained to provide the best care possible.
03. What happens to wildlife after rescue?
After being rescued, animals are either treated by veterinarians or brought into care with our trained carers. Once they’ve recovered, they are released back into the wild in suitable locations.
04. How do I become a Release Site Member?
If you have a safe, suitable property that can host native wildlife, you can apply to be a Release Site Member. This involves ensuring your property meets specific habitat and safety requirements.
Donations and Sponsorship’s
01. How do my donations help?
Donations directly support wildlife care, covering costs like food, medical treatments, rescue equipment, and rehabilitation supplies. They also help with outreach programs and infrastructure.
02. Can businesses sponsor Whites Creek Wildlife Care?
Yes! Businesses can sponsor events, fund programs, or provide resources. Sponsorship’s are a great way to support wildlife and show your commitment to conservation.
